Reaction Time Test
Measure simple and choice reaction times to assess processing speed and motor readiness.
Estimated duration: 2–4 minutes
About This Experiment
The Reaction Time Test measures how quickly you can respond to a visual stimulus. It is one of the most fundamental measures in experimental psychology, reflecting the speed of sensory processing, decision-making, and motor execution. This test can be administered as a simple reaction time task (respond to any stimulus) or a choice reaction time task (respond differently to different stimuli), providing insight into both basic processing speed and cognitive flexibility.
How It Works
- A fixation point is displayed on screen to focus your attention.
- After a variable delay, a target stimulus appears.
- You respond as quickly as possible by pressing the designated key.
- Multiple trials are collected to compute reliable average reaction times.
Key Metrics
Mean Reaction Time
Average response time across all valid trials
Variability
Standard deviation of response times, reflecting consistency
Fastest RT
Your quickest valid response time
Accuracy
Percentage of correct responses in choice reaction time conditions
